Low Vision
Dr. Elana Scheiner, OD, earned her Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry. She then completed a residency in low-vision rehabilitation at the West Haven VA Medical Center in West Haven, CT in 1998. In addition to her general practice, she works with both the visually impaired adult population and visually impaired students attending the local public school systems throughout North Carolina. In addition, she evaluates and prescribes treatment for children at the Governor Morehead School for the Blind in Raleigh, NC, and sees children with visual impairment at the Duke Eye Center in Durham.
Dr. Scheiner is recommended by the Raleigh Division of Services For the Blind and local retinal specialists for young adults and elderly in the state with visual impairment. Dr. Scheiner ‘s goal is to enhance the overall quality of life and visual independence of those whose vision and correlated function is impaired.
